In order to thoroughly follow and implement the instructions from President Xi Jinping, the Ministry of Education commissioned experts from 9 universities, led by Central South University, to compile “The Guidelines on COVID-19 Prevention and Control in Higher Education Institutes (the Guidelines)” in response to the recent outbreak of COVID-19 epidemic. To help the staff and students understand and apply the Guidelines better, with the joint effort of faculty and students of Xiangya School of Medicine, the online course “Guidance for Protection against COVID-19 for Staff and Students in Universities and Colleges” designed to match up with the Guideline is produced. This course, with pictures, animation, videos and cases analysis, systematically introduces the basic and clinical knowledge of the COVID-19, daily care and protection against it, guide for staff and students returning to school and mental health knowledge. It vividly tells the staff and students about the prevention of COVID-19, so as to provide scientific and accurate instructions and guidelines for prevention and control of the epidemic in universities, effectively protect the health and safety of staff and students, and ensure the stable restoration of the function of universities. The course includes 7 short videos consisting of an introduction and 6 chapters, the total duration of which reaches over 60 minutes. The short but informative course and the Guidelines complement each other, providing effective guidance on how to tackle with the epidemic and maintain the health and safety for the staff and students in universities and colleges!
