This course will provide an understanding of human psychology in cultural context. We examine how cognition and emotion influence behavior and how culture influence human psychology. Students will learn about the influence of physical and neurobiological perspectives along with Western and Asian philosophy, religion and art. This information can help students to understand life-span development: Socialization, parent-child relationship, development of the self, adolescent achievement, delinquency, stress, health, quality of life, leadership, organizational culture, economic development, trust, civic engagement and social capital.
